About Me
I bring many years of experience supporting people living with diabetes, with particular expertise in complex Type 2 presentations and Type 1 diabetes across all stages of life. I am a Credentialled Diabetes Educator and Certified Insulin Pump Trainer and have an expert knowledge of all insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors currently available in Australia
Living with Type 1 diabetes since the age of 16, I understand the daily realities of the condition. I use this lived experience to empower others, reduce the burden of diabetes, and normalise what it looks like to live well with it in the community.
With qualifications in both nursing and teaching, I really enjoy working with children, young adults, and adults throughout the lifespan. I have extensive experience supporting individuals with cognitive decline, memory challenges, and both intellectual and physical disabilities. I am confident in developing personalised management plans and delivering diabetes education tailored to each person and their family.
My consulting style is grounded in compassion, camaraderie, and practical support — creating a safe, encouraging space where people feel understood and equipped to thrive.
My personal story
I was diagnosed with diabetes at 16, just before the Easter holidays — a time that should have been filled with excitement and plans with friends. Instead, everything changed overnight. Like many people, I had to quickly come to terms with a new reality, including insulin injections and the daily demands of managing a chronic condition.
Growing up in a busy, close-knit family, I learned early that challenges are part of life — and that support makes all the difference. With the guidance of a wonderful doctor, I not only learned to manage my diabetes but was inspired to pursue a career in nursing and, ultimately, diabetes education.
I’ve been using insulin pump therapy since the early 2000s, giving me extensive personal experience with a wide range of technologies available in Australia. While there were a few detours along the way, my goal has always been the same: to support others living with diabetes.
Today, I combine my clinical knowledge with lived experience to provide practical, realistic, and compassionate care. Clients often tell me how reassuring it is to work with someone who truly understands — and that’s exactly what I aim to offer.
I live in sunny Brisbane with my partner, our children, and our two dogs and two cats. I enjoy staying active and living life fully — and I believe diabetes shouldn’t hold anyone back from doing the same.
